About Author

Stephen Arthur Stills (born January 3, 1945) is an American musician and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. He performed on a professional level in several other bands as well as maintaining a solo career at the same time.

Stills was ranked #28 in Rolling Stone Magazine's 2003 list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" and #47 in the 2011 list. Stills became the first person to be inducted twice on the same night into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with CSN and Buffalo Springfield.

In a later interview, Stills clarified by saying, "I never tried out for them! I have said this a million times! I went in there to sell my songs. Do you think in my wildest dreams I wanted to be a damn fake Beatle on television (laughs)? I was already writing songs, and I figured — I was young and dumb — that the only way I could get to them was a (casting) cattle call. I got in there and said, 'I’ve got all these songs.' And they said, 'That’s already been fixed.' I said, 'What, you’ve got some Tin Pan Alley (character) writing all the songs?' and they said, 'Yeah.' I said, 'I don’t want this job, but I know a guy you might like,' and that turned out to be Peter Tork."..
