About Author

Marla Maples (born October 27, 1963) is an American actress and television personality, best known for her marriage to businessman celebrity Donald Trump.

Maples was born in Cohutta, Georgia, United States, the daughter of Ann, a homemaker, and Stan Maples, a real estate developer and singer.

She is a distant cousin of actress Heather Locklear.

Ms. Maples attended Northwest Whitfield High School in Tunnel Hill, Georgia, where she was a basketball star.[citation needed] She was also Homecoming Queen at NWHS in 1981.

Maples secretly dated Donald Trump for nearly two years starting 1986 while Trump was still married to Ivana Trump. The affair was discovered by Ivana in 1991, when she confronted Maples on a ski slope in Aspen, Colorado. The spat was well chronicled by the media and led to Ivana filing for divorce from Donald Trump. Maples went on to star in the Broadway production of The Will Rogers Follies, in which she played "Ziegfeld's favorite," the girlfriend of showman, Florenz Ziegfeld. In 1993, Donald Trump married Marla Maples and together they had one child, Tiffany Trump (born October 13, 1993). In 1996 and 1997 Maples hosted both the Miss U.S.A. and Miss Universe pageants for two consecutive years.

She became engaged to producer Michael Mailer, son of writer Norman Mailer, after meeting him on the set of the film "Black and White," but they called off the engagement for unexplained reasons and still remain friends today. Maples is now a confirmed spiritualist and host of her own radio show on Contact Talk Radio the first Friday of every month...
